"Intourist would be proud of this place"
We have been waiting for an hour to check in. They have a very hard and strict check in policy of only checking people in after 3:00. That's bad enough, but what takes the cake is that they have a single employee at front desk. The whole reception has been full of people, and rather than being flexible, OR having more employees, they just make everyone wait, unnecessarily. This is a major management fail. This is completely absurd and it's treating customers like people who are waiting at some sort of bureaucratic limbo. The management team seems to have had their teeth cut at the Intourist school of hospitality, aka, the former Soviet chain of hotels. If you are going to have nonsensical inflexible policies, at least make sure you are well staffed!
"Do not stay here."
Stay away from this place! They delivered the room late and the ladies at the desk didn't seem to care at all. Then when we finally got the room it wasn't clean, the only thing they did was the bed and the towels but there was hair and nails on the floor and to top it off when we turned the AC on it had a terrible smell. We ended up sleeping with it off! The only good thing about it was the guy who helped us with the bags, he was extra nice, I wish I could remember his name.
"Please stay away from this place"
I will never stay here again! The only good thing about the hotel is the location, but other than that it is horrific. The entrance to the hotel is hardly noticeable because the entrance is in between a along line of shops. I almost didn't see the entrance! You can't get in front of the hotel by taxi, because the hotel is on a pedestrian street. And this street is closed on Sundays, so be careful while booking your return trip. We had a VERY UNFRIENDLY and DULL welcome from the receptionist. She just wanted us to pay our stay and didn't wont to work or do anything else. We got room 333, which is quite far from the elevator, there is a lot of walking. You have to use a card for the elevator, and if there are a lot of guests in the hotel you will have a long wait for the elevator. The pillowcase and bedspread were stained form previous guests when we arrived. The window in the room can not be opened. There is no safe deposit box. There is no refrigerator. The hallway smells of glue, it is very disturbing. The hair dryer in the bathroom does not work. And lets not forget about the breakfast! There is only jam and butter, because all the other choices of food are Mexican cuisine. Even the scrambled eggs are ruined with Mexican mixes.
"How do you find the entrance?"
This hotel is on the second floor, in the central area. If you have baggage, good luck in getting there. It is at least a two block walk from your car/taxi. Once you find the entrance, you realize that it is a very noisy area.
"I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy."
There is not anything good to say about this place. Where should I start? The TV didn't work. The blinds were falling apart. The bed was like sleeping on a sheet of rock. There were no outlets on my side of the bed. The AC didn't work and the room didn't get under 25 degrees Celsius (about 77 degrees Fahrenheit), which was too hot for us and we were sweating all night. COCKROACHES IN THE ROOMS. Rooms were tiny and very overpriced for the size/quality. The shower head and the soap holder both were falling apart. The water didn't get hot, it stayed lukewarm for 5 minutes and then got cold. The sink didn't drain. Part of the flooring was separating and coming up, so you would trip over it unless you were being mindful. I guess the only good thing I could say, if I had to pick something, is the location is right in the center of the city. But this isn't even a benefit, because there are plenty of other much better, less expensive hotels in the area to stay at instead. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless it was your only option for the night. Hotel Totem is down the street. We canceled our reservation at this place and walked down to Totem. It was half the price and double the quality.
